Compassion for ourselves is not easily wrung out of us. The price, so
often, is some unacceptable part of our lives intensifying in its
very unacceptability.
That mind has already exhausted itself in the
search for resolution - this is a great blessing. Nothing to do now
but wait. Waiting for that surprising moment when the heart bursts
open, sometimes stimulated by an act of kindness, a touch of grace
from the external.
New levels of tenderness for ourselves, for all of life, are forged
open and we rest again in the dear, dear sweetness of the Heart.
"And did you get what
you wanted from this life, even so?
I did.
And what did you want?
To call myself beloved, to feel myself
beloved on the earth. "
-- Raymond Carver
Oh dear Mags, I am just living exactly what you write: running in the cave of the old pain body and mind ways untill the heart is heard in a complete brakedown in this old battlefield. A new paradigm: to be gentle with myself...God is taking care of me and is waiting until I can let go down this cold cold something called surviving.
With all my love Diana
